July 10 - Shawl Bay

Today we traveled to Shawl Bay Marina a small marina comprised of several floating buildings and docks.  The reception at Shawl Bay is very warm and as soon as we are on the dock Ron orders lots of baked goods from the bakery.  We are in the mood to walk but there is nowhere to walk.  The nearby shore is densely wooded and even if it was not, a walk onshore would not be an option; we are in cougar country.  Ron and Rob went out in the dinghy to drop the prawn trap (yesterday's yield: 3 prawns) and had to contend with an invisible large rock on which they ran aground.  Rob had to get out and push the dinghy back into the water ... the bottom of the dinghy will be in rough shape after this summer.

Also on board Eileen and Bill's boat are their son Sean, an able mariner himself, and his girlfriend Megan and we have really enjoyed their company.  Happily, they do not (appear to) judge us for our hijinks yesterday.  This morning, Sean pulled up a dungeness crab and before dinner, the eight of us got together for drinks and fresh crab.
